Carlos Fuentes

The Mexican author Carlos Fuentes was born in 1928 in Panama and grew up as a diplomat's son in various countries of Latin-America, the United States and Europe. He completed his studies of Law in Mexico City and prepared is diplomatic career at the Institut des Hautes Études Internationales in Genf.
Carlos Fuentes was the Mexican embassador in France from 1975 - 1977 and was afterwards called to different universities such as Cambridge and Princeton as guest professor. He published several novels that won international critical acclaim, such as Terra Nostra (1977). In 2012 Carlos Fuentes, who was often named as a likely canditate for the Nobel Prize - though he never won, died in Mexico City.
